NMR Equipment for Undergrad Instruction
Gina Miner and her colleagues at
Acorn NMR are in the process of developing
an NMR "flight simulator" or virtual spectrometer, as a companion to our
data processing software. The preliminary version gives a pretty realistic
simulation of acquiring data, including what happens if the gain is too high or
the window too small, etc. The "sample" can be a real substance, not just one
or two freqencies, so processing and interpretation can follow naturally.
There is a description on their web page.
The web page also has some general NMR information, unrelated to their
software.
A Tecmag upgrade is a popular choice for converting older NMR equipment
into teaching instrumentation. Contact
Paul J. Kanyha, Tecmag,
Inc., for more info.
